The Commission's Revised Recommendations in the review were published on 29 October for a period of public consultation which lasted until 28 January 2010.

After the public consultation, the Commission can decide to hold a Local Inquiry on the matter. The stages of a review of an administrative area by the Commission are set out in legislation, and are summarised on the Reviews in Progress page.
The earlier stages of this review have been that the Commission formally agreed to carry out a review, and agreed its Initial Proposals for the boundary in December 2008. The Commission wrote in January to the two affected local authorities, and asked them each to make a representation setting out their views on the Initial Proposals by early March. Having received and fully considered those views, the Commission decided on its Provisional Proposals for the area, and published those Provisional Proposals on 14 May 2009 for a period of 12 weeks of public consultation. This consultation period was subsequently extended at the request of East Dunbartonshire Council to 31 August 2009.
